You’d think in 2024, certain major entities confusing Black celebrities for one another wouldn’t be a thing—but sadly here we are. On Saturday night during a UFC 306 broadcast, the camera panned in on several prominent folks in the audience at the “Noche” event including reality TV stars, athletes and executives.

The broadcast wrongly identified a man as rapper Kendrick Lamar when he was, in fact, boxer Terence “Bud” Crawford. Of course, the moment went viral on social media with X users like @dillondanis joking: “Someone at UFC is getting fired.” Even Crawford, who was mentioned in Lamar’s song “euphoria,” pointed out how ridiculous the mix up was.

Crawford posted on his Instagram Story with a clip of the UFC mistake shortly after with the quote “Damn Kendrick.” He also made sure Lamar’s “euphoria” was playing in the background.

UFC CEO (and proud Trumper) Dana White commented on the broadcast’s debacle, but only made it worse.

“I don’t know who the hell did that,” White said during an interview after the event. “That was pretty bad. He did kind of look like Kendrick Lamar, though. Let’s not f*** around. He kind of did look like Kendrick Lamar…so when I say that we had a flawless production tonight, I take that back. There was the one.

Noche UFC 360 technically made history by becoming the first-ever combat sports event to be held in The Sphere in Las Vegas. Sadly, it will probably become more known for this moment instead.

In addition to not being Kendrick Lamar, Crawford is currently the WBA and WBO light middleweight champion after defeating Israil Madrimov last month. He is scheduled to fight Sebastian Fundora next for WBO’s light middleweight title.
